Hat Project

The hat lamp and bowls are fabricated using the
same technique a 19th-century modiste would
use to make straw or ribbon hats, and in fact, a
modiste does make these extremely lightweight
products using a circular woven millinery. The
hat is a very politically and culturally symbolic
object and a rare garment in Sweden today.
The lamp’s fabrication allows the result to ask
questions of class and society.
